Open Position – Construction Carpenter

Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced carpenter to work on small to medium-sized residential projects, as well as any other tasks that may be require during the regular course of work.  This position will involve:

  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
  • Supervising other trades and labourers

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 – 5 years relevant work experience
  • Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Carpenter Trade Certification is an asset
  • Carpenter Red Seal Certificate is an asset
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course is an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills required to communicate with trades and clients

Open Position – Construction Supervisor

Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced supervisor to work on small to medium-sized residential projects, as well as any other tasks that may be require during the regular course of work.  This position will involve:

  • Train or arrange for training
  • Supervise workers and projects, and co-ordinate and schedule activities
  • Set up equipment
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Read blueprints and drawings
  • Recruit and hire workers and carry out related staffing actions
  • Prepare production and other reports is an asset
  • Estimate costs and materials is an asset

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Over 5 years relevant work experience
  • Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Carpenter Trade Certification is an asset
  • Carpenter Red Seal Certificate is an asset
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course is an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills required to communicate with trades and clients
  • Own vehicle with valid driver’s licence
